A navigation menu on a website contains a list of links to other pages and areas of the website. A navigation menu makes it easier for users to interact with and navigate your website, and to find relevant information.
Most commonly, you will find a horizontal navigation menu in the header of most websites. Here’s a screenshot of the navigation menu in the header of our main website (navigation is on the right side):
However, you can find navigation menus all over a website and in different locations, including the footer and sidebar.
Navigation menus might change in appearance on different devices. On mobile phones, it is common for a navigation menu to change to a small icon that you have to click in order to open and expose the navigation menu. Here’s our same navigation on an iPhone:
